Nice Work Denver. I'm glad we locked up Tom Nalen for three years, hired Mike Hermidinger [sic], and promoted Rick Dennison. It has been a solid start to the off-season. I'm also in the crowd that would welcome T.O. (who I consider to be a cancer most of the time) so long as he comes in with an incentive laden contract with an easy-cut clause and if T.O. realizes that this is Rod Smith and Al Wilson's team.

On-Going Commentary

Instead of posting this on CUbLAWg, I'm going to try something different. Since I have no idea of what to think about Harriet Miers yet, I'll be posting periodic updates the changes in my perceptions as we go...

Starting off, I think she is a strong lawyer from all indications...First female head of the influential Texas Bar, President of one of the largest firms in Texas and the President when the two firms merged. Powerful insider in the White House. And a real life trial lawyer who knows what is going on in the actual courtroom. So far so good.

Over the next couple of days I'll post about my lack of concern for her judicial experience or lack of opinions or papers.

[UPDATE] This New York Times article makes me feel better. Other then the ominous comments from Dr. James Dobson, I feel great that social conservatives are upset at this pick. Also, I don't agree with this article, because I perceive this as President Bush lacking the confidence in the Republicans in the Senate to stare down a filibuster, more than the President lacking the desire for a fight. Either way, it led to a seemingly more moderate pick, something I can be happy about.

Cat is out of the bag...

Well, if you read the comments of CU Blawg, the cat is out of the bag and I'll announce it for real. NJL-wife and I are exepecting lil' NJL sometime next semester! WE are very excited and are looking forward to the new member of our family.

Sad and Sorry

How is this possible? A pitcher has an ERA of 1.51 and has teams batting in the .200's against him, but has seen his team be shut out in EIGHT of his starts, many of them 1-0! I wouldn't belive that would be possible until the Astros did it to Roger Clemens!

The Mighty Mouse

Those who know NotJustLaw understand my obsession with all things Apple. I won't bore all with the details of my obsession, just know that it exists. But I've always been critical of the one button Apple mouse. I have one, and I hate it. AND I hate the fact that my favorite mouse, the one sitting before my iMac right now is a MICROSOFT (spit on the ground) Four Button, scrool wheel, optical mouse. Just makes me shudder.

Anyhow, it is nice to see my friends at Apple discover the beauty of a multiple button mouse. And I'm actually excited to try it becuase I know I will love it, and it will be well-designed and perfect. But don't call it the mighty mouse. Please, not when you are, oh, twenty-odd years late to the party.

Well, Well, you go before Congress, flat out deny you ever take steriods and then you get caught and suspended! I will never feel sorry for Rafael Palmeiro...How does a PROFESSIONAL athlete not know what went into his body! Idiot!

I'll still argue all day with people about whether steriods make you a better hitter. (It will help you recover faster, and work out harder but tell me how it changes the hand-eye coordination and the sweet swing required to hit one out). That being said, he testified before Congress and then got caught. After all he went through this summer, why would he even go near a supplement bottle. No sympathy from me and I was arguing he was a Hall of Famer.

Boy, all respect is gone cause I'm SUURE stanozolol, the same drug used by Canadian Ben Johnson, just slips into the bloodstream!

Bronco Traning Camp started this week as well. I have yet to make my annual pilgrimage to Dove Valley (previously Greeley) to soak in the training camp vibe, but i plan to do it soon. I'll probably be in the minority here, but I think that the Bronocs are the dark horse team in the AFC (and that is not just the homeritis in me). They made the playoffs last year despite horrendus injury problems, and have since added depth to the secondary, revamped the D-Line (i believe in the Brown transfers) and finally addressed the return game with this kid Williams. Put me down on record, the Bronocs will sneak in and steal the AFC WEst this year. 12-4
